From the Suburbs to a Teepee
By Katie BarnesAngela Radford, 11, and Sierra Radford, 12, moved to the Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage with their mother Amy Radford in April 2008 after seeing a TV program about the ecovillage of 41 residents. They previously lived in a four-bedroom, two and three-quarter bath house in Norman, Oklahoma and now live in a 16-foot teepee without any electricity. The girls are being “un-schooled” which means that they make choices about what they want to learn, and they learn by doing activities instead of being in a classroom.
